What is Pigmentation and how can it be treated?

UVA rays from the sun, stimulate your pigment cells called Melanocytes to manufacture the pigment called Melanin. This is responsible for your tan but also your unwanted dark patches.

There are different types of pigmentation, primary,

  • Sun spots, age spots, liver spots.
  • Skin trauma , caused by an old injury or acne
  • Melasma, causes include the contraceptive pill and pregnancy which alter hormone levels. Sometimes genetics can play a part.

IPL can be used to treat Sun damage (age spots) and some skin trauma. IPL is successful if there is a large variation between the pigmented area and the normal skin.

For conditions such as Melasma or if the client prefers not to have IPL, I recommend the, all natural, paraben, hydroquinone free, Illuma range.

Illuma is the next generation of powerful skin lightening ingredients. Quickly diminishes all forms of pigmentation from sun spots to melasma. Formulated by plastic surgeons, this revolutionary intense lightening line utilizes Vectorize Technology™ to deliver potent encapsulated lightening agents to correct and prevent pigmentation and uneven skin tone. http://www.vectorizetechnology.com/
